Being a daredevil and adventurous can sum up a lot about me. I am a self-taught artist born and raised in Houston, TX my roots of creativity have a tremendous influence on my art. With a humorous and creative wild side, I have a pure passion for art in any form of creation. The movement and flow of art move my soul to every line crossing a surface. The beauty of colour splashes a warmth and joy to the heart and spirit. These are many feelings that I experience along with my journey of creation.Through my ability to perform this gift may everyone enjoy the JPaceDesigns collection.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Jacobe . Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
My creativity and pure rush of adrenaline. I am a speed demon at heart. Having two machines that bring the hulk out of me balances my mellow work flow for creating art. I own a 2014 Mustang 5.0 and a 2010 Yamaha R6 absolutely love them!
Jacobe , what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as an Illustrator?
I have been drawing as far back as I could remember my toddler days. My mom just recently showed me a book full of old drawings, I had drawn since being in Pre-k from dinosaurs in Jurassic Park to all sorts of animals lol. My passion comes from life and seeing the world interacting with so many different cultures as everybody has something to bring to the table. My aspiration comes from the strong heart felt the drive to pave a legacy for my creative works to display in front of the world!
Who is your inspiration in life Jacobe ? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration comes from my family and friends. Having seen and lived in some situations most people do not experience too often in a lifetime. It has humbled me to strive to provide a better life for the closest people around me with my talents! My drive for only wanting better keeps my inspiration alive, as feeding coal to a freight train locomotive screaming down the tracks!
We all make mistakes Jacobe , we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being an Illustrator, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
As my first time stepping into the business world by myself. I have not experienced working along side a colleague in this particular field. But however, i wish I would have made copies of my works that are floating around town lol But they came from the heart as gifts to my clients. Thank you, everyone that supports my work!
Jacob , when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As an Illustrator, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
Well, communication is the most important part of it all. Keeping everyone informed of the status that is currently happening and being completely honest and upfront. I personally like to connect with my clients and have a complete understanding of their vision to blend into my creative designs. But I also have to manage myself as well to make sure I am not overwhelmed to where it affects my work being produced to my clients.
Please tell us Jacobe , about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as an Illustrator?
It simply relates to the previous question. talking with clients and also understanding my target audience to execute my goals set!
Jacobe , please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I have worked in the oil and gas industry for 5 years now. A lot of the older guys have so much knowledge and experience in the field. But it also comes with its perks of being repetitive and for fresh eyes and seeing things different from outside the box. My ideas and work-related approaches have been greatly accepted by the legends of this industry never be scared to speak you mind on a situation or matter as it could greatly impact how we live and work each day. Safety is the most important key asset in the world of Offshore
Jacobe please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as an Illustrator. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I love seeing the reactions and expressions of the work I do! It lets me know I have successfully completed my project once, I see the smile that can not go away! Not when the picture is done and I lay my materials to sleep. But more so the feeling of connection with the individual I am working with seeing the bliss inside of them from my working hands!
Jacobe , please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Working with a childhood friend of mine that is now growing big in the music industry. Creating something different and appealing to his taste with my creative design. It was so exciting as we both wanted to pay tribute to the city where we are from. But also him just telling me all the time to freestyle something as I tried to grab as many ideas and thoughts he had along the process. Him giving so much trust to me in my work was a great feeling knowing how much he believed in me to produce a custom work of art! But also the difficult part was me working a full physical 12hrs everyday offshore on a boat and pushing myself to create a beautiful design. But I enjoyed the whole process from start to finish!
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as an Illustrator?
I would say to the people illustrator or whatever field you work in. Believe in yourself always at the end of the day. Never give up on your dreams no matter how hard it gets! The times you do not want to work, the times you do not want to get up, the times you want to give into quitting you can not submit to it. We as individuals have to reprogram ourselves to find our drive to be successful in our crafts!!!
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I would love the opportunity to collaborate with singer/artist Chris Brown! That is my absolute top of the list for my lifetime. But however, I would like to work with graffiti and tattoo artists and expand my knowledge of these forms of art! Music artists as well is still a big part of my work collaboration combing visuals with audio!!
