The camera provides a great way to capture the world and show people a perspective they may not always see.
J, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
I love creativity and indulging that. These days I'm focusing more on trying to take action on the ideas and dreams that flow through my head and photography has been a passion since I was in high school. So about two years ago I bought a DSLR, and now I'm working to capture all the moments I can.
Who is your inspiration in life J? How do you keep inspired?
I love all kinds of artists, business leaders and entrepreneurs that can manifest and bring about the ideas within them. Sometimes inspiration can come in the form of a good song or movie, but I have a guilty pleasure for motivational videos on youtube.
We all make mistakes J; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I worked with a model once that was trying to get a ton of outfit changes and I let the person rush me through them. On the plus side, we got photos of all the outfits she wanted, but I felt like I was in such a hurry I didn't enjoy the process or get as many good photos as I think I could have if I had slowed down and just enjoyed the process. I do photography cause I love it, so I don't ever want it to be just a job or a deadline. And I don't want to let other people make it that for me.
J, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I think communicating up front is important so you can understand what their priorities are and then plan accordingly. Once you know what they want most then you can have an open dialogue and what it'll take to get that as far as time, money, planning, etc.
Please tell us J, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
I can't say I've had a lot of challenging moments yet. I think one of the biggest points I've realised is photography is only the first step...it's the part I love. But if I want to build a business, marketing and advertising are equally important and require a lot of time and effort as well.
J, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I think I'm lucky in the medium I work in. Working with digital cameras, it's not too difficult to say "let me try a shot this way and show you what I'm thinking" and if it's not some elaborate setup, you can snap a shot or angle and show the model/customer right there to get their approval.
J, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I think the best part about photography is always searching for that next image and inevitably you'll go out somewhere or meet up with a model and get some shots that you think are amazing. Half of the shoots I've done I come back proud of the images the model and I got together. But there's always that next time and a chance to show yourself up.
J, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I love all kinds of photography (from landscape to architecture to portraits), but I think working with another person/people is the most creative. Shooting a tree or a lake or a building is just you assessing that object and getting different views of it. But working with a person requires teamwork and more of a dialogue or dance between both sides to get the best image.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Shoot a lot. Don't be afraid to shoot. Test out every aspect of your camera, so you know what it does. Put yourself in interesting situations. Show the world your view of it.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I'm always looking for models, fashion designers or companies/ organisations/projects that need photos and would like to work together.
