Iris. Tell us ABOUT yourself.
I am a self-taught makeup artist. My passion for makeup started when I was very young. I used to stare at my mother do her makeup every day before she went to work. She always had the most awesome ideas. She loved playing with colours. I, started doing makeup professionally in 2014 after my mother passed. I dedicated every triumph to her. Because without her I wouldn't have had this passion.
I've worked for several photographers as a makeup artist and as a model including Rick Jones directly from NYC.
I have been in several runway shows as well:
War paint sponsored by Lane Bryant 2016
Picture perfect by Sheila Lee 2017
First annual men's fashion week featuring Lane Bryant 2017
Future shows:
Miss Alabama Black expo August 12th
Naturals in the city August 13th
All white fall into winter charity fashion show September 24th

Besides loving what I do, I like to teach others while the makeover process. Their not only just my clients, their family

Iris, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Make-up Artist?

As I stated before, my mother had a lot to do with my passion for makeup. But last year, modelling has been a new passion I've also discovered. And it all started with a video I posted playing around in the isle of Walgreens. Who knew that after that I would be in several runway shows!?

Who is your inspiration in life Iris? How do you keep inspired?

I have several people that keep me inspired. My daughters because I am their example. My wife because she can see my hard work and every sacrifice and my hunger for success, she will always be my number one fan, and I love her for that. Dionne Reeves, the one who discovered me, polished me into the model I am now. I still need a little more work, but she has inspired me to work harder than anyone for what I want.

We all make mistakes Iris; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Make-up Artist, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
The very first time I did makeup for a paying client I was freaking nervous as heck! I was sweating like no other. I think her lashes didn't even glue the correct way. I would love to know where she is now. I would probably make it up to her with a free makeover!

Iris , when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Make-up Artist, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?

It's all about time management. A full face is not a 10-minute job. I'm all about perfection. It has to look beyond expected. So I always recommend at lease 30 minutes minimum depending on detail.

Please tell us, Iris, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Make-up Artist?

No mater how much your back hurts you always smile and get the job done. This is life or death!

Iris, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Sometimes a client will bring a picture of what they want. I try to make them aware that it will not look the same because of their eye shape and so on. They trust me. And trust is very important to every client

Iris, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Make-up Artist. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
The day I drove 2 hours, for this wedding. 7bridesmaids, the bride and her mother, I did it all in just 4 hours!

Iris, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
For an editorial photoshoot, I was asked to do avant garde. One of the best moments in my career!

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Make-up Artist?

Lots of practice!

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
