ABOUT
I studied English at Kenyon College and now at Exeter University. I have modeled for various companies such as Pacific Swimwear and other local businesses and photographers in my area. I love working with creative concepts and themes and am comfortable doing just about anything. I am willing to travel for shoots and am excited to further expand my portfolio!

Our readers would love to get to know you more Hinnah . Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?

In addition to modeling, I love writing. I have had poetry published in the Blue Minaret and HIKA, and have a completed work of poetry soon to be published in late 2017/early 2018!

Hinnah , what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?

I started modeling to become more confident. My entire life I’ve been told that brown skin isn’t beautiful. It was a long process to realize that all skin tones are beautiful, and modeling helped me become comfortable in my skin.

Who is your inspiration in life Hinnah ? How do you keep inspired?

I love photographers such as bleeblu, who see the human body as art rather than just an object. When it comes to writing, I love poets like Ocean Vuong and Warson Shire who, in addition to writing about the struggles of being a person of color, also write about POC love and how the two intertwine. I keep inspired by constantly surrounding myself with creative people who love to feed off each other’s energy.

We all make mistakes Hinnah , we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Model , you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
When I first started out, I was constantly scared I wasn’t good enough. I once canceled a shoot with a photographer the day of the shoot in a last minute burst of anxiety. I felt horrible wasting his time while also putting myself down. When you don’t look “conventionally beautiful,” or aren’t heavily represented in media, it’s hard to realize that you really are beautiful, despite what unrealistic beauty standards say.

Hinnah  ,when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?

I love trying my best to make the photographer’s vision come to life. I love feeding off of creative energy, and collaborating with a creative photographer always produces such beautiful work when we both put our passion into it.

Please tell us Hinnah , about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?

I always had to be strategic in making sure I don’t sell out and give up my values. I’m proud of my south Asian features, and never wanted to portray them as anything other than south Asian. I love embracing my culture.

Hinnah , please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I never really persuaded someone to “see things my way.” I believe working together and collaborating always produces innovative and beautiful work.

Hinnah please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share to everyone. What is it and why?
When I first got contacted to be a Brand Ambassador, I was so excited and proud. It’s always nice to know that others believe in you and see something in you, as well. It gives you a reason to never give up.

Hinnah , please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
One time I got to play with lighting and shadow on skin tone, and it was so exciting because I got to highlight the beautiful properties of dark skin, something that isn’t often showcased in mainstream media. The difficult part about it was to make sure that I was doing it justice. I never want to let anyone down when it comes to representation.

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?

All body types and skin tones are beautiful, and never let anyone tell you different.

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, I’d love to work with various photographers and brands, i.e. sponsorships and promotions/becoming a brand ambassador!

Now for the best part Hinnah ! Please upload 5-10 photos so we can get to see your work.
