"I love creating work that emphasises design, whether it be shadow play, light, colour, props, compositional placement, surrealism, etc."
Name: HAYLEY LOUISE BURNETT
Location: MELBOURNE, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA
Email Address: firstname.lastname@example.org
About: I graduated from university in 2013 with a BA(Hons) in Photography and Film and then headed to Australia.
After living in Broome and Darwin, I moved to Melbourne to pursue my photography career.
From here, I worked for a luxury fashion house as the in-house photographer. After a couple of years as an in-house photographer, I decided to freelance as hlb.photography.
Tell us something about yourself. What you do, passion and aspiration in life?: I love creating work that emphasises design, whether it be shadow play, light, colour, props, compositional placement, surrealism, etc.
As well as the design component I apply to my work; I also like to conceptualise the socio-political.
My professional aspiration is to be able to create work on a larger scale that incapsulates design while at the same time contextualises current affairs.
Who is your inspiration in life? How do you keep inspired?: My inspiration in life is…life. I love the socio-political. The 'melting pot' on which we live is abundant with inspiration the good and the bad.
Dian Arbus, Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, Ellen von Unwerth, Tim Walker, Steven Klein and much more inspire me through their compositional constructions—light, mise en scene, angle and conceptualisation.
What is your aspiration in life?: To create work that people enjoy.
