Alright, now for the interview! Firstly Grace, how would you best describe yourself?

Grace. Tell us ABOUT yourself.
This section will be used for the listing on our website. Please see sample below. You can skip this.
I am a performer. First, the rest follows.
Choreographer, poet, writer, vocalist and actress - artist.
A 2016 Graduate of a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts at the University of Witwatersrand. I completed my Honors Research in Dance Theatre Composition and Choreography and continued to create work. I have created work for platforms such as the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, Baxter Dance Festival in Cape Town, and the Dance Umbrella SA in Johannesburg respectively.
I am all about breaking the codes and conventions in my work that has us stuck in appropriation as women first, and as artists and performers.
I am all about the unconventional. The uncomfortable. The other. The un-appropriated.

Our readers would love to get to know you more Grace. Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far.
I am passionate about creating spaces for women to be unapologetic about who they are and owning the skin they are in despite what society has led us to believe we 'should' look like. I am passionate about creating art that speaks to these ideas. I am all about celebrating women for exactly who they are.

What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field Grace?
My goal is to start an organization that focuses on young children, in educating them through art, I want to create opportunities and awareness about themselves and how they can live a positive life in the current society they are growing up in. I also want to create work that breaks the conventions of the art world to create equal opportunities for artists in all genres, of all races and all walks of life.

How do you communicate with people Grace? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I consider myself very patient, upbeat and positive. I listen to what the people want and need at a given point and work off that.

If you had to do it over again, what would you change Grace?
I wouldn't change a thing! I think the delays of finding myself and my feet were very necessary for my journey. It created a very real hunger to achieve the goals I have set for myself.

Who is your hero Grace, and how have they helped you get to where you are?
My prayers and faith have kept me. I have too many people who have inspired me on my artistic journey and who keep reminding me of the gifts I have, and that they should be utilized.

How important are creative education courses Grace? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful?
They are SO important! Coming from a background where I studied for a degree in a creative course, I have learnt so much, not just about my craft, but mainly about myself and where I choose to position myself in my craft. It creates such an awareness of what is around you and the people around you. Mostly, it creates an appreciation for your craft and others.

Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry?
The main thing, is to remember why you started. It's very easy to forget because you begin to have so much influence around you that your dreams begin to merge with theirs, but that's how you get lost. Always remind yourself why you started and where you want it to go - stick to that!

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I am interested in collaborating, whether artistically or through conversation, with photographers, writers, choreographers and artists. I really have an interest in tapping into ideas of how to create a better awareness of what we possess and what we can influence with it.
