"I was trained to have a meticulous eye and pay close attention to detail. This molded my backbone as an artist to never settle for anything less than best."
About: My name is Gina Marie Picciotto and I am an Editorial and Beauty Hairstylist based out of NYC. I started my career training under Master Celebrity colorist Louis Licari & Salon as a color specialist in Midtown, NYC. Their philosophy of enhancing natural beauty involved me with numerous celebrity clientele, makeover segments such as LXTV makeovers and color corrections. I was trained to have a meticulous eye and pay close attention to detail. This molded my backbone as an artist to never settle for anything less than best. I then found my way down to the inspiring Chelsea Hotel, working with Master Celebrity Hairstylist April Barton. There I was exposed to innovative, inspiring artists and began to work on numerous fashion shoots, video segments and other projects (listed below).. I've been working on set ever since. Currently I freelance as a hair and beauty editorial hairstylist, collaborating with various artists on shoots to build my brand as my own aspiring artist, as well as maintaining my color clientele. I also currently work on fashion shoots under Master editorial and beauty hairstylist Katsumi Matsuo.
Previous and current works include: Amazing Magazine, The Atlas Magazine, Avenue Magazine, Coveteur Magazine, Time Out Magazine, Smith Klein Campaign, Bloomingdale's catalogue, Leggs' makeover segment, Coloring Ethan Hawke for his role on Broadway, NY Fashion Week, FDNY Calendar

Tell us something about yourself. What you do, passion and aspiration in life?: I've always been drawn to art, culture, fashion and music. And working in the fashion and beauty industry is a way to contribute a piece of who we are to create greatness together that is inspiring through all faces of art. One of the best rewards as an artist is to be on set working with other passionate artists; together we all create a story that will last forever
Who is your inspiration in life? How do you keep inspired?: Meryl Streep. She is an amazing, talented actor and artist. She is always evolving into a different version of her artistry, showing that she has no limits. And that is what being an artist is all about.
What is your aspiration in life?: To always bring new inspirations to life, using art as a way of expression. As my artist friend Jesus says, "Art is Life, and Life is Art."
What is the most challenging part of your profession?: It's important to stay current in the industry and continuously find new ways to stay inspired. As artists, we are all or nothing.
Tell me about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities.: Believe in yourself, and never give up.
Give me an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.: As a hair color specialist, it is my job to advise my clients in the right direction based off of my color expertise. I greatly believe in having a thorough consultation with all of my clients to discuss the best and most realistic options to achieve the best hair. By asking the right questions and referring to pictures, this is always a great way to communicate ideas and come up with a goal together.
Same goes for photo shoots; we put a mood board together which is a collage of different photos that are the inspiration behind the details of the shoot. (Hair, Makeup, Clothing, Setting). Visually its a great way to communicate with each other to work off of the same vibe together.
Tell me about your proudest professional accomplishment.: Colouring actor Ethan Hawke's hair for his role in Broadway play "Clive".
How old do you have to be before it can be said you died of old age?: Age is just a number ;)
