I have always had an interest in photography and have recently decided to embark on a side project in which all pictures will be taken with an iPhone. I want to remind people that we have the power to create art by capturing moments at our fingertips.
While in college at Salisbury University where I studied Philosophy, I worked on a YouTube series called "Ted's Declassified College Survival Guide" and during this time I learned a lot about the technical/practical/theoretical aspects of videography and photography.
I hope to inspire people to find the artist within themselves, to capture moments, find a passion, develop a talent, or start a career and for them to know that you don't need a DSLR camera to be an artist.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Gianluca. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
After graduating college in 2014 I have had countless jobs, all of which did not seem to fulfill my artistic curiosity and my passion for creativity. I recently dabbled in some photos with friends and found that I enjoy photography. To me, this is about allowing myself to have a passion outside of work, that could possibly become a career someday.
Gianluca, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
My passion is to help people, to inspire them, and to motivate them to learn and grow into the person they want to be. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, and I hope that by charging $30-40/hr I can not only help them feel beautiful and empowered, but to show them that anyone can take a good photo with practice.
I took some photography classes in high school and worked on a YouTube production in college, I have always enjoyed taking pictures but I only recently decided to seriously pursue it.
Who is your inspiration in life Gianluca? How do you keep inspired?
My fiance is my inspiration, she constantly challenges me to be the best version of myself, to push through the tough times, to be positive and most of all to believe in myself. She is the reason I do everything I do - to provide a better life for us. I believe by taking photos I can nurture a passion and turn it into a side-job to make some extra money to secure a future.
We all make mistakes Gianluca, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Photographer , you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I've not encountered an issue like that, but if I do, I will do my best to make sure a client is heard and understood from the beginning of the process all the way up to the moment they receive the finished product.
Gianluca ,when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
Well, I'm new to this but I think all clients should be an equal priority, and as a professional I make sure to not overextend myself, to give myself realistic deadlines, and to set aside time to work with clients throughout the process.
Please tell us Gianluca, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
I've not encountered this yet, as I'm new but get back to me later and I'm sure I'll have a lot to tell you.
Gianluca, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
When photographing a client I had asked him to try a couple more poses before we called it quits. He seemed hesitant and even laughed, but I told him to bear with me and that I had a feeling these pictures were going to be the best which I said with a smile and confidence. After finishing our shoot my client was absolutely thrilled with the outcome and referred me several other clients.
Gianluca please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share to everyone. What is it and why?
I don't have any professional accomplishments yet - however I'm hoping my journey as a photographer will yield some fun, adventure and the ability to meet great people.
Gianluca, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I have made the decision not to search the internet for inspiration for my shoots, as I feel there is something raw about taking a photo in a moment, landscape, outfit or occasion. I do not edit my photos in an effort to preserve the moment in its purity. All of this can be a challenge, however it also makes it a lot of fun.
What advice would you give to the people who wants to be successful as a Photographer?
I'm not sure about success as I believe that it is relative to the individual's goals. However, I think that for anyone who wants to be successful - patience is key. It will take a lot of practice to be good at anything, it will take time to cultivate clients, it will take money to procure the tools to help you become successful; but in the end it is the ability to continue pursuing your dreams to their fruition which will make someone successful.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I would love the opportunity to show people that Apple's iPhones have the capability to take phenomenal photos. A collaboration with Apple would be my goal however I would thoroughly enjoy working with talents like Ashley Graham and Bella Thorne and brands like Supreme or Nike and I would absolutely love to collaborate with BuzzFeed.
