Geraldine, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Hair Stylist?
I am passionate about anything to do with hairstyling and making art and collaborating with other creatives in ChI I want to get published and create beautiful art. I began as a shampoo girl in a small salon where the owner introduced me to the exciting worlds of hairstyling by taking me too many hairs shows, and that's how I started. Never underestimate a person who gives and teaches you their craft. icago.
Who is your inspiration in life Geraldine? How do you keep inspired?
Every day I look at landscapes of the architecture of skylines. I imagine new looks new concepts I want to translate somehow some way it comes together in full blossom and shows in the photos like magic. But mostly magazines and my peers inspire me the most.
We all make mistakes Geraldine; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Hair Stylist; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Oh yes. I snapped and threw my come on the floor and stomped away like a three-year-old in my twenties. Now intellectually I know how to listen and take my time with my feelings and then react in a mature matter. Worst moment ever.
Geraldine, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Hair Stylist, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I'm lucky I have receptionists that keep me on top of things. I always inform people if Iâ€™m running late and offer a free condition .r they end up very happy!
Please tell us, Geraldine, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Hair Stylist?
Wow I had to strategize how to learn techniques to deliver a top quality service in a shortened amount of time by being prepared in the morning planning my time frame and utilizing my where I can save time and also deliver a great service such as quick drying then curling to save time and also pinning hair before curling at times . Geraldine, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
At work, my boss had a client complaining about another jr stylist work on a chemical service. My boss was defensive. I took over my gently explaining the way the product works and that we have no problem redoing her hair and we won't let her leave till she's happy. The client felt validated from how I handled her and my boss was great full.
Geraldine, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Hair Stylist. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I was recently published in Dye magazine AandI mirage magazine, and it was my absolute proudest moment because I worked two days one making one wig from scratch. And for the photographer to be pleased and get her work and the MUA too published all on my own with a crafty friend of mine was so satisfying on so many levels.
Geraldine, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I self-taught my self how to handmade a wig it was challenging getting it to work technically but exciting cause it was so artistic.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Hair Stylist?
I would never say ever think you know it all respect your teachers and the skyâ€™s the limit.
