Francesco Morandin was born in Mirano (Venice) on 12th November 1969. He attended the art school in Venice, where he first got interested in photography by visiting the camera obscura of one of his friends’. From 1990 to 1992 he took part in the courses held by the “Centro Formazione Professional” in Milan. He began an apprenticeship with the photo agency “Grazia Neri”; then, for more or less one year he worked at the “Camera Press” in London. For 2 years he collaborated with local magazines, till 1995, when, thanks to an exhibition of his portraits, he caught the interest of the photo editor for Benetton and personal assistant of Oliviero Toscani. He has then begun working at the multimedia research center of Benetton, Fabrica, since nowadays, where he realizes all the fashion shootings of the company

Francesco, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
experimentation, try as many things as possible, try to do something that is not so predictable...same for traveling and meeting people
Who is your inspiration in life Francesco? How do you keep inspired?
keep on looking in alternative cinema, photo, and general art forms
We all make mistakes Francesco, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Photographer, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
never happened. I don't have regrets
Francesco, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
I try to discuss every aspect before, so during the photo shooting everything is clear and there no waste of time
Please tell us, Francesco, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
a recent shooting in a palace on grand canal in Venice. had to meet the request of the model, the manager and especially the designer of the cloths. we end up using also the manager as a model ( she 's a middle age very good looking and fascinating, woman
Francesco, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
once we had to shot a video with some explicit sex scenes between the 2 models ( girls )...I 'll tell them that I'll have their faces not recognizable and that they could just try it, no one was pushing them, if they didn't like it they could stop
Francesco, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
working for BENETTON Group and making world campaigns for the brands of the company
Francesco, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
once I've done a fashion catalog using also a pinhole camera, one of my passion
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
see what the greatest photographers did, on the web, catalogs, and exhibition. try to learn from them and then try to do something personal.
