Our readers would love to get to know you more Francesca. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I get excited about everything, I take pictures of everything...with my camera, with my iPhone and I love to stop and admire what nature gives us in everyday life. I stop a few minutes every day and look for something beautiful, in the small little things.
Francesca, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
I'd like of course to have a career in fashion photography. I started when I was in high school: I was the one in the class with this passion, so I started taking pictures of my classmates during school trips...then moved to events in clubs and now, after my bachelor in fashion design, fashion photography!
Who is your inspiration in life Francesca? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in life is all the people that don't give up or that follow the crowd. I admire people that, like me, seek for happiness in what they do. I think that the best thing to reach in life is doing what you love. I keep myself inspired watching and listening to Ted Talks and surfing a lot on Instagram, to see how much beauty there is in this beautiful world. And of course, I keep myself inspired travelling a lot.
We all make mistakes Francesca; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
If a model could be considered as a colleague I'll tell you about this one: during an editorial shooting the stylist was so excited (in a good way) but also so overwhelming and kept talking to the model telling her what to do that the model asked me for help, she was getting confused and couldn't give the best of herself to my pictures. I tried to calm the stylist down trying to make her understand that we were supposed to talk singularly with the model...but I wasn't much convincing or self confident...so the editorial didn't come out that well with all that mess.
Francesca , when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
I go first with the big works! Then when I notice that my attention goes down, I switch to the second one...In this way, I don't get tired also because I think that if you focus too much ...at the end....you miss the real focus
Please tell us, Francesca, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
Very strategic... mmh strategy doesn't mean a lot if you have no time or a small amount of it... you have to work overnight. Sometimes it happens that I don't go out with friends to stay home and post produce or make any research. So my strategy is that: give all myself to my work until I'm done
Francesca, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I don't like to persuade, but I really like to be explicit so when there is something I'm not into it I always try to give another option, usually this comes out well if I "talk with images" so I show my idea creating mood boards, this always help
Francesca, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
For someone, it can be a little accomplishment, but for me, the best one is when, working with a team for an eCommerce website, I saw my first pictures published on the website. I was proud because I knew my career had started...and little by little you can only grow!
Francesca, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
When I shot an editorial about "genderless" we shot with the model using silk and a called flower. In my mind what I had was something very intimate, the difficult part was to make the model understand the mood, or at least I was worried about that because it's not in everybody's behaviour...but he completely got it, so it came out amazing.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Practice! Practice ! and again! I know this sounds old but ... this is the reality. And also talk to everybody with no shame about what we do! Because the more people know what's your job, the more you get contacts!
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, sure. I'm interested in e-commerce jobs and fashion editorials. I like to submit my work to independent magazines!
