I love sharing the different aspects of my inner-self through artistry.
Erika, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Model?
At a callback for a musical, the producer asked me if I'd be interested in modeling for an upcoming promo picture for the next season at the theatre. After I did the shoot, my picture was plastered all over. I got to be on a billboard and see my face when I was driving on the freeway! After that, I started collaborating with my photographer friends and creating content that I found to be special.
Who is your inspiration in life Erika? How do you stay inspired as a Model?
People. There are so much creativity and inspiration that is drawn from basic human interaction.
We all make mistakes Erika; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
Although I've made mistakes in the past, focusing on bettering myself in the present is what I strive for. Something I am practicing is to stop before I judge another. Everyone here is just trying to do their best.
Erika, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
I am a good listener. Being an actor, I naturally take direction well. I also love giving my insights and having a collaborative experience.
Please tell us, Erika, how do you prioritize work, social life, friends, and family?
Time management hasn't always been my strongest suit, but I am starting to realize just how precious time is. Everyone has the same hours in their day, so what I like to do is to make sure I am making every moment count. I use a calendar and mark everything I have planned for the week/month. It is flexible, though, because not all moments in life can be planned out.
Erika, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I had an idea to change a description of a character in the script I was reading. I didn't have to do much convincing; the writer/director loved the idea! Even though I might not always hear a "yes," expressing my ideas always feels worth it.
Erika, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model.
When I was on a billboard, also when I did a shoot for Black History Month with a group of incredibly talented and beautiful individuals.
Erika, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I created a photoshoot all by myself. I set up a tripod, did a couple of hair and makeup changes, and played with the lighting and mood. The difficult thing about it was that I didn't have a helping hand, and would have to run to my spot before the timer when off in the camera. It was an impactful experience because I did all of it by myself, and the photos turned out great!
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Self-love. Self Love. SELF LOVE. Also, start and practice now with what you have/where you are.
