In answer to this question I, would say my unique selling point is me as a person. When people build Brands the, ey think it's about websites, business cards etc., w.hen in fact business is all about people and how you reach out to them. I have many skills, from hair, makeup, beauty, Nails, personal performance coaching, business coaching, accelerated learning, wedding planner, events manager, photoshoot coordinator, stylist, and training and education. I am also a spiritual person and humanitarian and love helping people and making a difference. So I think I am unique in what I do. However we are all unique, we all have a purpose and a mission in life, we need to find our passion and follow it. This is what I have been doing I've been following my heart and intuition and love what I do.
Donna, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Others/Advertiser?
My passion is helping people, I have done that through my charity events, and in return of people being involved in my shows I have promoted them online and given credits when sharing the images from all the events I have organised. I love to make a difference to others, and touch lives in some way, and I do this through the work I do. I like to make everything I organise fun, from events to marketing photo shoots. I choose this category because you didn't have one to define what I do, to be honest. I like to think I am a unique business with fresh concepts.
Who is your inspiration in life Donna? How do you keep inspired?
I think my role models in life has been Gok Won and Tony Robbins. I admire the way they help people be the best version of themselves and help to change lives. I have also been inspired by John Haynes who owns a coaching academy here in Liverpool, I attended his academy four years ago, and it had an enormous effect on me and my life, I found myself and have continued with self-development since. The other person who inspires me is Daniel Le Fey Holmes who is a priest of the Goddess and Avalon, he helps me develop the spiritual part of my life, and I have done photoshoots with him to promote pagan weddings and handfasting.
We all make mistakes Donna; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Others/Advertiser; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I think the only mistake I have made is trusting people and working in good faith in some of the projects I have done. I have learnt not all people are like-minded and have the same ethics and values. I work on a win-win basis and with a humanitarian point of view, but I distance myself from egos and anyone out for themselves.
Donna, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Others/Advertiser, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
My experience of working with big teams on non-profit events is no matter how much preparation you have done and how organised you are things can still go wrong, and it's down to the team of people you have to all pull together. You are only as good as the team you have working with you. I have also learnt you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try, some of it is down to what is going on in their own lives and their perspective on things. You can only do you your best, and as long as you know you have done all you can, that's all you can do. Problem-solving is the key to being an events organiser and creative thinking and being able to reach out to people from all walks of life.
Please tell us, Donna, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Others/Advertiser?
I think I have had to be strategic when organising my projects when I have finished one project I have jumped on straight to another to stay constant and kept the ideas fresh, so my audience sees something new each time. I think you need to keep evolving.
Donna, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I feel I am a natural leader and this comes across in anything I do. I have a great passion and energy that attracts people to work with me.
Donna, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Others/Advertiser. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I think my proudest professional moment was my last two charity events which were organised by me to raise mental health awareness and money for the charity Mind. I felt so proud of getting the message out there and people speaking out about their stories and how mental health affected them.
Donna, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I feel fortunate that I do what I love doing and can be creative when doing marketing shoots. I use my skills and knowledge to create a theme and then brief a team ive brought together, send inspirational images and then they incorporate that in their designs, and put their creative twist on it, we all work together, and I oversee it all so everything compliments each other from hair, makeup, dress, shoes, jewellery, cake, venue dressing, flowers. Cars. Venue etc. It's like a jigsaw everyone plays a part in what we are building, and I play the part of directing it and coordinating and styling. It feels rewarding to see ideas come to life and when its part of a photoshoot it is like Magic before your eyes seeing it come to life.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Others/Advertiser?
My advice work with people who are likeminded and have the same work ethics and values and want to work as a team for a common goal and have respect for what you are achieving. Also, ensure everyone is clear on their role and set boundaries in place.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I am looking for more hair and makeup creatives, fashion brands, models, and also companies who would sponsor future events.
