Our readers would love to get to know you more Dominque. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?

I was born on 9/18/1984 in Michigan City
Indiana, at St. Anthony's hospital. Mother Bobbie J. Bones-Byrd, Birth father Michael D.J. Lark. My birth name is Mr. Dominque Anthony Michael Bones-Lark. My mother and I moved to Georgia when I was 8 years old. I moved to NYC 1-1-2005. What makes me unique is that I'm me. I make my own rules when it comes to fashion and I don't follow the trends.

Dominque, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Designer?

My passion in life is fashion. I eat sleep and breath fashion. My aspiration in life is to become a lifestyle brand.I first got started designing at the young age of 7.

Who is your inspiration in life Dominque? How do you keep inspired?

My inspiration in life is my mother. My goal is to get to a point in my life that I can just tell my mother that she does not have to work anymore. but also my inspiration in life is myself. I want to leave my footprints in the sands of time. As an African American designer working in the design field, i feel personal that African Americans or people of color are overlooked. So with that being said, that gives me the drive and inspiration. How I keep inspired is by using my own personal life as inspiration. And also researching different time periods and countries. I love to look at lines and fabric and that inspires me.

We all make mistakes Dominque, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Designer, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
To be honest there's nothing that I would like to take back. I believe everything happens for a reason. and the crazy journey that is life gives me inspiration. And I get along well with my colleagues.

Dominque, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Designer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?

when I'm working with a large number of clients. As a Designer, I prioritize my clients’ needs by making sure I mark down appointments in my calendars, and also make sure that I give them ample amount of personal time.

Please tell us, Dominque, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Designer?

A time I had to be very strategic in order to meet all of my top priorities as a Designer, is all the time I have to balance my personal life, which includes my life with my fraternity brothers and the time that we do when, like or community service projects and etc, and there is also my corp design job. I work as an assistant designer/ assistant tech designer for a juniors sportswear company. and then there's my company. so I have to make sure I'm on my P's and q's all the time, but that's when you have to make sure you write everything down.

Dominque, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I think I would be just showing someone that their way isn't going to work. Seeing is believing and once a person sees for them-self then they will understand u where right.

Dominque, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Designer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment in life would be the first time a same work overseas in Russia in a store.

Dominque, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I get to be creative all the time when it's my own collection. I love coming up with an idea and watching them unfold.

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Designer?

The advice I would give to the people who want to be successful as a designer is to go to design school. And follow your heart. And keep god or your higher power first an remain humble and be strong and keep at it.

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands, and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
