Thinking out of the box, staying out of the usual photographer manufacturing line, that creates images the usual way. I like capturing the surroundings into the images, love doing taboo concepts, creative designers and artists who are on the same wavelength as myself.
Devkanth, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
Be the best fashion, fitness, or editorial photographer in any genre there is. Don't like to confine me to a style. Every photographer has their style, but I didn't want to stick to one, if I like a concept, I execute it.
Who is your inspiration in life Devkanth? How do you keep inspired?
My daughter was the reason I got into photography, and the little things in life, surroundings, family inspire me to do better in my photography career.
We all make mistakes Devkanth; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
As an upcoming photographer, I always wanted a professional model who could bring the best in me. But, even the best models, do need direction. She was not punctual, and she let me wait for 4hours on the site of the shoot. Due to my inexperience, I was dissatisfied with the results. It leads to me not working on the model ever since then.I think that behaviour towards her was not right, and I could have reached out to her, and give her my feedback, and sort things out.
Devkanth, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
Client satisfaction is key, but prioritising your work is key to deliver quality and excellent service. On that note, I would set some deadlines and based on the concepts and delivery dates; I would meet with the necessary vendors and build a team, that could deliver and stick to my dates, and produce the results that the clients need.
Please tell us Devkanth, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
Every editorial shoot I do takes away a month or two in planning. It takes a great team to deliver the best work on the day of the shoot. One of my wedding styled shoots was a disaster; it took me 10 hours to finish due to poor planning. The next time I did a similarly styled shoot, I was able to finish it in 3 hours in spite of the acute weather conditions. Time is key and gives a better picture to customers.
Devkanth, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Again, on my editorial shoots, most of the times, it is me driving them. But, in some cases, the designers/ artists would request me to get a particular shot for them. I usually oblige, but I had to convince in most cases, why that shot might not be preferable.
Devkanth, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
Six mos into my professional fashion photography career, I got published in an online magazine. Though I was not that experienced; it did give me some boost to concentrate on editorials and styled shoots. Currently, my proudest moment is I'm waiting on two such publications for my recent styled shoots.
Devkanth, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
In photography, lighting is key along with other configurations. But, when a certain light setup brings out the best results, you are like a kid in a candy store. I get excited and verbose, when I get the images, I have imagined for my conceptual shoot. It was exciting because, I designed the backdrop to the shots, and they came out great. The difficulty was the backdrop a wooden door that was exquisitely handcrafted and weighed 300 pounds, getting it to the shoot location, was the tough part.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Do what you think is best suitable for your needs and photography style. I'm not there yet, to give someone advice. Every day is a learning phase for me, and love being a learner.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes. I'm looking for more high fashion designers, creative makeup artists, hair stylists, who can take fashion and editorial shoots to the next level
