I studied cosmetology at Empire Beauty in Boston Massachusetts. Not long after I worked in a salon and did freelance makeup artistry for editorial photo shoots. Eventually, I gained a passion for modelling myself. As a curved woman, I wasn't the most confident, but that changed soon after I grew to love myself. My skills as a beautician have helped me so much within this process. I just want to inspire beautiful woman all over the world to follow their hearts An stay true to themselves by loving themselves first.
Devin, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
As a makeup artist, I was promoting my artistry. A used me as a model for a shoot. I just knew I loved modelling after that day. The high I got from posing was awesome!
Who is your inspiration in life Devin? How do you keep inspired?
Ashley Graham is my biggest inspiration as a curved model I love her confidence and willpower. I truly believe there is an art to being yourself and she Neal's it on the head. A watching woman like Ashley strive for greatness keeps me inspired. Living in New York City takes a big part in keeping me inspired. It keeps your mind racing, in a good way. Expressing it is the easy part!
We all make mistakes Devin; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
While working with a well-rounded photographer. I found myself waiting three weeks for glamour shots; I was eager to receive. I wish I handled it differently and been more patient.
Devin, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I'm fairly new with modelling so I will remain humble and not use the word "large number of clients" but with any job, you love it isn't hard to deliver excellent service because I love what I do. I take a lot of deep breathes and try to stay in the moment. Every client deserves the same great energy from me. That's important! The experience shows in the photos.
Please tell us, Devin, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
During a shoot in Boston, we didn't have anything for my "baby hairs" so we used Carmax to slick them down. I don't know how much more strategic you could get, but that was pretty resourceful
Devin, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
One of my past hair clients wanted her hair died blond from blue, black hair. So I convinced her to go red instead. Made my job easier At the end after she seen the results. She was super happy, and I got my way.
Devin, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My first photo shoot was my proudest moment, I finally got the courage to embrace my body as a woman. It felt amazing!
Devin, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
During one of my shoots, the makeup artist didn't show up. I had to do my makeup; It was so exciting to be able glam up my face. The only difficult part was I didn't have as much time to focus on modelling.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Make sure you stay confident, courageous and always be yourself.
