What's unique about Deuce? Hmm. Well when it comes to modelling, I'd have to say that I'm always willing to try something new and outside of the box as I think it opens up the doors to amazing and daring shots.
When I'm designing something for myself to wear on a photo shoot, I have to paint a scene for myself. Where am I? What am I thinking? What does it sound like?I put on an instrumental; I scan images online, I pull out my watercolours and then I hit the thrift store to source fabrics as I try to be environmentally (and economically) conscious. I'd eventually like to produce a series of fashion films, so I design always to be prepared for the day that comes. I call myself a singer, so I'd also like to incorporate that into the overall theme.
It's a complex process, but it's one that I enjoy. I hope to be able to be full-time with the Induce brand one day. Remaking thrift store finds into one-of-a-kind pieces, but I'm taking it one day at a time.
Deuce, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
Fashion, Art, and Music. These are three mediums I'm constantly pulling from to fuel my expression. They're such an integral part of the culture, and they deeply affect our day-to-day. However, I feel that the power of these words is being diminished. The harmful practices of fast fashion, kitsch art seems to reign social media platforms and finding a song that doesn't sound like the trend is. You know how that can go. I want to create a brand that says something more. It's tricky when it seems the window of time to capture someone's attention is closing more and more, but it's a formula I'm on the brink of solving!
Who is your inspiration in life Deuce? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in my life is my family. They keep me going day in and day out. When I don't believe in me, they do, and that's such a great support system to have.
Music is a big inspiration for me as I can take it with me anywhere and I sometimes let it narrate my day. Also of course. streetart, street fashion, impromptu trips to galleries, walking through fabric stores, a quote, the thrift store, film costuming, the subway, watching old seasons of Project Runway and more recently RuPaul, really anything that catches my eye goes into my bag of tricks.
We all make mistakes Deuce; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I had gotten into the mode of being passive-aggressive when it came to not understanding a differing political POV. I drew about it later. :)
Deuce, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
It's a process of comparing complexity to deadlines for me. If I have a big project, I'll segment it into parts and do smaller/quicker turn around in between. It helps to generate new ideas for the big project, but the smaller ones are also a nice distraction/mental break from burning myself out on one project.
Please tell us Deuce, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I did a series called, "Post Grad" It was 13 days, and I stuck to a very strict schedule of shooting myself, setting up scenes, and editing posts for upload. http://lpthecreator.com/post-grad.html
Deuce, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
As a graphic designer, I often had to persuade people to trust my design decisions, especially when it comes to logos. Packing everything into one design isn't always the best option.
Deuce, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment was showing my artwork at the Moving Art Exhibition. I think that set me on my path of creating images that were visually stimulating, current and also had something to say. Check em out: http://lpthecreator.com/moving-art.html
Deuce, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Most recently it has been with the creation of my new IG page @indeuce where I show my sketches, location scouting, works-in-progress and finished pieces. I use what I create here to propel my model portfolio @deuceparker
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
When you don't have the words let what you present to speak for itself.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, whether you're a designer, fellow model, photographer, painter, musician, MUA, dancer, I think we could create some cool things!
