From my experience with working with amazing clients, I have been told I make the experience fun. I make my subjects comfortable by being quirky or telling funny stories about myself. I believe in capturing the true beauty in my subjects, and true beauty comes with one's true self. Art is best captured with emotion.
Destiny, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
Photography has and will always be my ultimate passion; I have never felt as free as I do when I am holding a camera. I would love nothing more than to photograph subjects of all nature. I aspire to further and take my career to new heights. I've always been interested in photography but never realised it was something I could make possible, I found my big break working as a receptionist/assistant for a photography studio. After about a year of my reception position, I felt I was ready to request an apprenticeship in photography. My request was accepted, and I have been photographing ever since.
Who is your inspiration in life Destiny? How do you keep inspired?
Everyone, I find inspiration in all walks of life. There are so many wonderful photographers and artists to find inspiration in; I find the beauty in all their work. Every photo, flower, animal, a person keeps me inspired. Some days I'm walking through the grocery store and find inspiration in the fruit or veggie aisle and just can't wait to pass the idea on to a client.
We all make mistakes Destiny; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Of course, we all make mistakes, especially in the beginning. I recall one situation that pops into my head often; I forgot my battery after charging it all night. Luckily, I had a friend in the area to lend me a spare battery, and all was okay although my client did have to wait and she was not very amused. I have yet to forget my battery again. I always keep a note in my bag so, I know to grab it now.
Destiny, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I try to consider everybody's needs; there are always clients in big groups who think they are more important than others. It's most definitely possible to meet everyone's needs, even if it's little patches for everyone's needs. In all cases, I take control and assure my clients their photos will be beautiful.
Please tell us Destiny, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
First starting out as a photographer I had a very big group of 20 people and a backdrop that just couldn't fit that many people, I had to strategise a way to make it possible for everyone to fit. I pulled the backdrop as tight as I possibly could and layered my subjects.
Destiny, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
This happens quite often in photography, most models see something online that they don't realise was Photoshop and think they can you create in real life. I try to educate my clients better and in most cases, we, try things my way.
Destiny, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment was photographing my first wedding. Being asked to be apart of someones most important day for the first time can be emotional.
Destiny, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
The first time I was able to take control of a photo shoot as an apprentice was amazing. As an apprentice you usually have to work with your bosses ideas, when I was able to take control of my very first photo shoot it was a beautiful experience. I think the most difficult part about it was the nerves of being on my own not having someone there to shadow me, but it turned out great in the end.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Believe in yourself, who is going to believe in you if you don't believe in yourself.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Would love to collaborate with other artists. I'm in the California Inland Empire/ Los Angeles area.
