I am 24 years old. I love animals and pet sit often. I've always wanted to travel the world and learn about different cultures. My goal is to become a herbalist and one day be a wildlife rehabilitator with traditional medicine. Also to be able to incorporate my modelling in everyday life along with that goal. I used to dance ballet for 11 years, and now I'm learning about yoga. I work odd jobs to manage my life, but I enjoy learning new trades along the way. I love the earth and nature. I feel one with water and believe I float like air.
Darria, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I started in a modelling troupe at my college in 2012. My passion is to travel the world, impact others positively, work with animals and model for the top photographers in the world.
Who is your inspiration in life Darria? How do you keep inspired?
I inspire myself. Every day I see myself growing into an amazing woman, and that alone keeps me inspired to be the best that I know I can be.
We all make mistakes Darria; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Coming out as a nude model in the model industry is hard enough but knowing how to handle the type of situations I was put in because of that is what I wish I knew more about when I first started out. Sometimes my work isn't taken seriously, or I'm categorised as an erotic model when I'm far from that. I am learning how to brand myself in a way that showcases my work so that I'm not misunderstood in what I'm trying to convey in my photos.
Darria, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
First by figuring out what is required of me as a model and what needs the client would like to be met. Then I like to communicate with the clients as to how to achieve those goals efficiently, always producing quality work is essential for me.
Please tell us Darria, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
Planning my bookings so that no times conflicted with each other and made sure my body and mental health were at its best.
Darria, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
There was time at work where I had to orchestrate a seating plan for my team to make sure the clients were taken care of efficiently.
Darria, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment as a model was when I first crossed over into my modelling troupe and was no longer training to be a model but considered apart from the troupe and a leader.
Darria, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I am the creative director for most of my photoshoots. I usually come up with concepts and locations. The hardest part would be finding the right people to help those concepts come to life
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Find what it is that you love to do and focus on how to make your dreams come true.
