Fashion Stylist

ABOUT

I stopped life in its tracks and went for what made me happy - I wanted to change lives, and you can do that in many ways. I deal with the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder, which almost took my life in my teen years. I'm a mixture of all subgenres, a new niche.

Courtney, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Fashion Stylist?

Growing up, I drew lots of dresses. I would design my skating dresses, take them to our dressmaker, and watch them come to life. I always said my ideal job would be to dress celebrities, dress influential people for events and photo shoots. An opportunity came up midway through my first year of fashion, and I went for it, which made me realise I can make this possible.

Who is your inspiration in life Courtney? How do you stay inspired as a Fashion Stylist?

Myself? Is that conceited? My hobbies include astrology and tarot cards; I like to draw from those energies in my birth chart and through, I suppose, the vibe of this craft. My rule is one standout piece.

We all make mistakes Courtney; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?

I acted like a brat towards an executive producer while I was an intern.

Courtney, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?

I used to say I was in social work because I'm a social person. I am a very energetic person and love when the people I work with feed off of it - I can easily adjust to others mood.

Please tell us, Courtney, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?

You have to have notebooks. You have to share information with people who matter because they will ask you about these things and you will remember. Doing it all is possible.

Courtney, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.

I create art; art is something to be discussed; to be explained. The style is subjective. I enjoy having conversations with others describing my point of view - why this works the way it does, what it is I am seeing.

Courtney, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Fashion Stylist.

Dressing Cheryl Hickey in garments from my city, London, Ontario.

Courtney, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?

The fear of what you're seeing not being able to be understood by the person behind the camera.

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Fashion Stylist?

You don't get anything you don't ask for.
