Fashion is another passion of mine, as I make or distress many of the clothing items that I model in. Many of the items I feature have been specially made for me by local artists and designers who are looking for exposure.
Cierra, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Model?
I began modelling my freshman year in college and have done a lot of work with local cinematographers and visionaries. Originally, A friend of mine and a classmate asked me to model for them to expand their portfolio. After that, I just took off from there. People wanted to pay me to model and be in their videos. I was very shocked but decided to try it out. Since then I have continued to grow as an artist and support those who helped get me started.
Who is your inspiration in life Cierra? How do you stay inspired as a Model?
Honestly, my elder brother is my greatest inspiration. He is currently in the U.S. Airforce, and I cannot be more proud. He sacrificed so much for me so that I could go to college and get my education. He also helped raise me at one point in our youth. I will forever be grateful for his support and high expectations for me. He has done nothing but helps me grow and believe in me, all while fighting for our country. I am so grateful; I cannot give up because he works so hard every day. I think it's all about keeping a positive mentality and always being willing to learn. You can never lose inspiration when you're chasing your dreams!
We all make mistakes Cierra; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
One mistake I wish so strongly that I can take back is ever doubting myself. I used to care so much about what other people thought. If I could go back in time with more self-assurance, I know that I could have been so much more powerful of a woman. I think that I will always be a people pleaser held me up in a lot of ways. It's just good to be at peace and know that you can't please everyone. You should focus on what makes you happy. That's what matters.
Cierra, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
I'd like to say that I keep things very professional, however, I have built a bond with everyone I have worked with. I love to make a lasting impression on people and bring out the best in them along the way.
Please tell us, Cierra, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
The family will always be first, as it should be. I love my siblings; they play a big part in my life and dreams. It can be hard sometimes when I'm travelling; however; they do miss me a lot. I have always been quite a popular one in my city, so it's never been hard for me to be social. I enjoy working with everyone in my city; they are some of my biggest supporters, so we always stay in contact. My friends are more like family. I've known them all for so long; they know everything about me. We often do shoots and collabs together, as it is something we all enjoy. It's also a great way to make memories! More often then not my friends are who help me come up with concepts, hairstyles and even help with poses.
Cierra, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Being a sales representative makes this quite an easy question. About a year ago I sold cosmetics for Benefit Cosmetics located in Sacramento, CA. I adored this job. My main responsibilities were to persuade our clients to buy our product as well as making them feel beautiful in their skin! When I first began, I was a bit nervous because I can have such a small voice at times. But with time I became the top new sales associate for the benefit. This was all due to me having the ability to get people to see that they're beautiful, I understand some of their insecurities or imperfections and I have an easy, affordable solution. Being relatable is how I made my sales with ease.
Cierra please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model.
Being published in an online magazine takes the cake. I was so excited to tell my family. It wasn't much, but I was just so grateful that someone saw that potential in me. One of my most gratifying moments. I believe that was the moment my parents stopped doubting me so much as well. That made me the happiest.
Cierra, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
The very last shoot I did I was given a shirt by a local artist. I had always been a fan. He is already established in Columbus, has a huge mural located downtown in the city as well as art featured in many galleries. He recently gave me one of his sold-out shirts to model. He did this right in front of someone who was begging me to let them buy that last shirt. It was oversized for me, but the artist suggested I could wear it as a dress. He had seen my artwork before as well as noticed the distressed top I had on. He asked if I made it myself and insisted I äóìrock outäó his item. I felt very honoured to be chosen and given such responsibility when he could have easily sold the shirt and made quite a bit of money. Long story short, I took my time, put my flavour into it and came out with some awesome photographs. The pressure was on! I was so nervous I would mess up that last shirt, but now I am more than pleased with how it turned out. The quality of the pictures was just amazing.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Keep your head up; be whoever you want to be, especially yourself. It's okay not to know what you're sometimes doing. Everyone needs direction and criticism is a good thing! But don't let people get you down. If you have an idea go for it and do whatever it takes to bring it to life. You'll be overjoyed once you see the art you've created with yourself. You have to know that YOU are beautiful and YOU are one of one. So have confidence, have fun with it, remain open-minded and you'll see the results.
