What made me unique is my personality. Because I feel that I can inspire everyone around me to become better and not to give up on their dreams. I am a fighter.
I am an Australian-Filipino citizen, but I grew up in the Philippines. I was a part-time freelance model while at the same, a musician and a student. I graduated Bachelors of Science in Business Administration major in Operations Management. I am currently residing in California, USA now and looking for possible model agencies scouting for models. One of my biggest dreams is to Join Miss Universe, and I hope I'll be able to achieve it soon. As a model, I do runways, photoshoots, advertisements, beauty pageants, etc. And I'm looking forward to being part of a model agency. Lastly, as a person, I am responsible, honest, outgoing and a career-driven woman.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Charmaine. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
What made me unique is my personality. Because I feel that I can inspire everyone around me to become better and not to give up on their dreams. I am a fighter. I have been rejected many times before, but I never gave up. People have told me that I'm too short to be a model or a beauty queen, but I didn't mind to what people say because I believe that with all my confidence and dedication, I can reach my dreams. No obstacle can stop me from reaching my dreams, and it will all be worth it in the end
Charmaine, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
To be honest, I didn't know what I'd do before. But when I joined my first pageant, there I realized that I know this is what I want. Maybe this is for me. Not only I want to be a model and a beauty queen but I also want to be a successful business woman, and I hope I'll get there someday. I started as a model when I joined a national pageant but I didn't win but I didn't regret that because in the end, a lot of opportunities came to me, so I grabbed them without hesitations because even though I was new to modeling and I was very shy, I still accepted it to gain confidence and make it a part of my experience for future projects.
Who is your inspiration in life Charmaine? How do you keep inspired?
I think it's my parents. They've been there for me since the day I've been joining pageants and events, and my dad always encourages me never to give up and reach for my dreams. I always think about them, the things they did for me, gave me and I wanted to give back to them in the future, and I think that's what keeping me inspired.
We all make mistakes Charmaine; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Well, I never regretted any event I joined, and I think one of the biggest mistakes I had was having a misunderstanding with my agent. Because it was supposed to be a 2-day event and I already confirmed it, but after the 1st day, my agent suddenly replaced me with someone else when I did nothing wrong. So I confronted him, but he just ignored me. We weren't on good terms, so I never had any projects with him ever since. I wished it was that easy, but it's really hard to confront a person who ignores you. I'm easy to talk to, but I don't like being fooled or betrayed
Charmaine , when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
Yes, it's a tricky a job, but ever since I joined pageants and events, I gained my confidence from time to time. When you love your job, you would never disappoint your clients, and as for me, I considered Modeling an important job.
Not does it makes me happy or feel successful but I believe that I can also make a lot of people happy with what I'm doing and put smiles on their faces. We should always put our clients' needs first next to yourself :)
Please tell us, Charmaine, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I was having problems that time. With being a student, a musician and a model at the same time? It was really hard to balance my schedule during that time. But I thought of reorganizing my schedule that I would only join pageants and events as long as it is not a school day and there will be no conflicts with out-of-school activities. Being a musician, I had to spare 2-3 hours every weekend but as a full-time student? Yeah, that was the hardest part, but I managed to balance all three at the same time. I would do everything, so nothing will get in the way of my dreams and that's what I did :)
Charmaine, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Well, there was this girl. She was a schoolmate during highschool and a lot younger than me by a few years. We were friends. She asked me what's it like to be a model, how to start and join events and everything because she was also short. I told her "you just need to believe in yourself that you can do it, join workshops to gain confidence and once you're ready, go to open calls or go sees."
And then next thing I know, I saw her walking down the runway. I was so proud that I am also able to influence young generations and people like me.
Charmaine, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment? I think it was when I was being chosen as one of the models to advertise a famous resort in Cebu, an ad campaign and this resort was Jpark Resort where the last Miss Universe was held, and I'm proud to be a Cebuano <3
Charmaine, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I guess. It was also the time I was chosen for an ad campaign for a famous resort in Cebu. I thought it was just a photoshoot but just when the shoot started, I was shocked to know that It was just video shoots, so I was pressured. I was scared since I didn't have any experiences being in front of a video especially when it will be shown to the public. But I thought to myself "No. Don't be scared. This is a great opportunity". It was difficult at first because of all the managers and clients present around us that time, and it made me more scared, but I tried to let go of it and tried to be confident. It was also exciting knowing that I am part of such a big project
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
"No obstacles or opinions can be a hindrance to your success. Do you want it? Fight for it. Rejected? Never give up and continue to believe in yourself. One day when you become a model, you will realize that all those hardships you went through were worth it because you worked hard for it and lastly, never forget the people around you who made you into who you are now because they are one of the reasons why you chose to continue on fighting."
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes. I'm open to all projects whatever will be given to me, and I will be more than grateful for that
