Depression is a serious issue. It has been affecting everyone from adults to the younger generation. What I am trying to do is bring awareness to mental health issues by placing embroidered quotes on my designs to motivate and inspire people to keep pressing forward in life. Even if a supporter wants to wear a design that isn't going through any depression can help someone who is by wearing a design that others may look over and see and be motivated from someone else's clothing. I want people to look down at their garments and not only feel inspired but feel confident.

Chanira, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Designer?

My passion and goal are to inspire and motivate people going through sadness, depression, and anxiety to continue with their lives. I want to use my platform to reach as many people as possible. How I started as a designer is basically by making my clothing and broadcasting my journey through social media and by wearing my designs.

Who is your inspiration in life Chanira? How do you stay inspired as a Designer?

I inspire myself daily. Battling depression, anxiety, and growing from how I was previously is an inspiration in itself. As a designer, I know things can get hard, so I always look for the positives in anything. That is what keeps me going.

We all make mistakes Chanira; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?

I made the mistake of giving up. While I was going through depression, I felt as if fashion wasn't for me. I couldn't think I felt like I was going to fail, and I couldn't design hardly anything. Every time I thought about designing or sewing, I would avoid it. I stopped designing for a year, and I wish I would've just stayed consistent.

Chanira, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?

In terms of working with clients, I feel that I am very pleased and straight to the point. I like to be sure that measurements, designs, fabric, etc., is correct and is what the client wants before proceeding with the order. I want the client to be satisfied and happy about their order.

Please tell us Chanira, how do you prioritize work, social life, friends, and family?

Of course, I work the standard 9-5 job, and after work, I go to the gym then once I come home, I work on my brand. Also, on my off days from the gym, I come home straight from work to work on my brand — the social life I save for the weekends.

Chanira, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.

While I was working at a major store in the mall, part of my job description was to be a stylist. Customers would come up to me asking advice such as if a certain top would go with a certain bottom, or if a certain garment would go with a pair of shoes they bought from another store. My colleagues realized how good I was at this, and how all of the customers would come to me for advice. Eventually, they would recommend me for the customers to talk to.

Chanira, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Designer.

My proudest professional accomplishment was when I first went on stage, in front of a huge crowd, as a fashion designer. As I was first starting with showcasing my designs, I've never had that experience, and I never wanted to stop having those experiences.

Chanira, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?

Being creative with my work is all I do. Some pieces are more geared towards as are and some pieces are geared towards as marketability.

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Designer?

The advice I would give to an aspiring Designer is never to give up. Being a fashion designer is hard, but with hard work, dedication, and consistency, you can succeed. I still tell myself this every day.
