Currently I am a model coach for aspiring young model and actors in my area, ages 8-18.I have been modeling since high school. I was the face of my high during junior and senior year, doing print and commercials. At 16 I joined a modeling company doing lots of runways shows. In college and slowed down to focus on studies anut I managed to befriend the official university photographer. He allowed me to be apart of many print ads
Our readers would love to get to know you more Brittany . Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I am a Southern Louisiana Creole. Creole used to be a legitimate race after slavery in the US. Now it's more like a culture. I like to say I am one of last of my kind. Both sides of my family date back to 13 generations in New Orleans.
Brittany , what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
Ultimately I want to find a way to make lots of money because I want to be a philanthropist & human rights activist. My whole life I stressed about how many people do not have the luxuries that I have from running water to basic clothing/shoes. I started modeling as a teenager as a way to recruit to get kids to come to my school. My school was an expensive private school. After my parents divorce my senior year (a very exenpsive year) I barely had enough money to pay my tuition. (Seriously, I had to be sponsored by a silent donor) I know what it's like to feel like I don't have enough to keep up with my school mates. Going to other schools to recruit, doing print work for ads for my school, & practicing my lines for commercials took my mind off of all of that. I realized that when I am in front of the camera I can let all the thoughts go and be in the moment doing something I love.
Who is your inspiration in life Brittany ? How do you keep inspired?
Sooo many people! My mom is my main inspiration for obvious mom reasons. Since I can remember I have loved Tyra Banks; currently, my latest obsession is Jasmine Tookes, a Victoria's Secret model, along with her pals Lais Ribeiro, Adriana Lima & more! & localy all of my friends and associates who encourage me to stay in front of the camera! I keep inspired by following inspirational models and quote pages on instagram = instant inspiration to keep going!
We all make mistakes Brittany , we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Model , you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Once I havd an opinion about how I thought an outfit made a colleague look. I did not think I was rude but apparently my comment was unwarranted. From then on, I keep comments about the models to myself, especially on set.
Brittany ,when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
Keeping the clients needs as a priority is key. I need to know what they all expect of me. I like to call myself a chameleon and others agree. I switch from one mode to the next effortlessly; nevertheless, I need to know what they expect so I can give it them.
Please tell us Brittany , about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
Diet, exercise, hydration, practice in the mirror, keeping a packed model bag & sleep is my strategic plan daily. I try to stay ready so I do not have to get ready.
Brittany , please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Being able to explain yourself clearly, with little stammering is a gift!! When I am able to explain myself with ease and in a calm tone, situations usually work out in my favor. I recently had to explain to a Director at the school I coach for why the schedule was not going to be a good flow for my class. I was able to effectively communicate why I felt so, and I backed it up with a revised schedule if it was okay with her. She agreed and we had a fluid transition throughout the day.
Brittany please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share to everyone. What is it and why?
When I became a model coach for the organization I currently work for! They loved my look and they really believe that I am a great instructor!!
Brittany , please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
On photoshoot sets sometimes my photographers let me take the reins and they fine tune as we go along. This makes me feel like a creative director which sometimes makes me nervous because I start to wonder "Does this look okay?? Do these colors match?? Did I set this up like an ametuer??" But it comes out looking so wonderful every time.
What advice would you give to the people who wants to be successful as a Model?
Just Do It!!!! Get in front that camera. Save all your work. Start your model portfolio. Work with varies people. Have no FEAR!!! Practice, Practice, Practice! Know your market! Play with it! Stay true to yourself! If you don't like something, do it anymore & if you love something STICK WITH IT!
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I want to connect with anyone willing to work with me. I do not want to limit my options with labels. I want to work with creatives in general.
