I am not only a fashion photographer but also a contemporary artist and historical researcher. This means that I will blend art and fashion and create unique business cases with the vision of historical scholars and artists. I like Surrealism and mystery, I like nature, and I am very good at outdoor shooting. I have participated in many international art photography exhibitions, won awards, learned about various art styles and world photography history, travelled the world, explored different historical cultures, and I drew inspiration from art and human history and nature. And think about combining performance art, sculpture, installation and fashion images to explore the expression of different media on fashion images. Last year, I studied fashion movies and advertisements in Denmark so that I can be not only a photo photographer, a photo editor but also a director, film photographer. åÊ In addition, I have many years of commercial shooting experience, which helps me to complete the shooting effectively and on time.
Bonnie, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Photographer?
I am passionate about travel and art. My wish is to be an outstanding artist and event planner, contributing to the visual research of China and the world, and participating in public welfare undertakings. I have been in contact with photography since 2011. I was fortunate to have an exhibition opportunity in 2012 and won the first photography award in my life.
Who is your inspiration in life Bonnie? How do you stay inspired as a Photographer?
The stranger is my inspiration in my life because they are so different for me.When I met people in some remote areas of China, they were very poor. Taking pictures of their life can be difficult. I am shocked. I hope that I can do something for them with my strength, so I want to be a photographer.
We all make mistakes Bonnie; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
I hope that when I was an undergraduate, I should go to university to study art instead of history so that I would deepen my understanding and research in art and make good works to repay society.
Bonnie, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
I attach great importance to communication with the team. I will listen to others and give my opinions. Respect, cooperate and finish work on time.
Please tell us, Bonnie, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
Throughout life, I think it is arranged in this order: family, friends, work, social activities. But this is not static. It will change according to different situations. For example, if an important work is going on, then work is the most important at this time, because I am responsible for the team, the customer, and society.
Bonnie, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
My friend and I want to shoot a fashion film to participate in the Berlin Fashion Film Festival. We need to have more distinctive clothes, and I like the design of the famous designer Lawrence Xu, but his work is too expensive, I want to borrow their clothes. So I contacted him on social media and explained the idea. He did not reply to me, but I did not give up, so I asked a friend to contact his clothing brand leader in China. I spent two days writing a plan book that analysed his brand features, shows the elements we wanted to express in the film. When the person in charge of the brand saw my plan, they agreed and wanted to see our work.
Bonnie, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer.
I got the "China Top 20 New Emerging Photographers "Award (2017); Nominee for Best New Emerging Photographer of Wu Ji Journey of Exploring Best New Photographers Award, 2015. Outstanding Young Photographer Cultivation Plan Award, 4th International Photo Biennale, JI NAN, China, 2012. I have attended many art photography international festivals. My photo be the cover of the HONGKONG magazine <MSphotos> The most proudest thing is I make many new friends from my photo project.
Bonnie, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
When the weather or other factors are encountered at work, the original plan cannot be executed. At this time, the photographer needs to respond quickly and adjust the shooting plan. In 2015, I photographed the customer in Phuket. As a result, we couldn't make the original shooting because of the rain. Looking at the bad weather, I immediately discussed the new shooting idea with the client and adjusted the shooting location from the outside to the indoor. The shooting was completed on time and with high quality. In the process, it is challenging to respond to new shooting plans and appease customer sentiment quickly.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Follow your heart. Don't imitate others. Learn art history, and draw inspiration from life. Professional skills and aesthetics are important but don't forget the proper social interaction.
