I am currently studying Design at Leeds Beckett University, and I am in my final year. I enjoy my course, but I know I am meant for something else... I feel with being 25 I look a lot younger than most people my age, and I feel that is a strong stepping point in the modelling industry as there are limits. I have a unique look, and I feel that it must be shown, rather than wasted, I have a very positive outlook on life and know where I want to go with this industry.
Barney, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
My passion is too eventually become a known model and branch out to companies and do more collaborations as I enjoy the thrill of being in front of the camera, also under pressure. My aspirations in life are to be a successful model and maybe even design clothes in fashion through the modelling industry that would be a dream.
Who is your inspiration in life Barney? How do you keep inspired?
The way I keep myself inspired is people I follow on social media that have a positive outlook and show you that anyone can achieve their goal, it just depends how bad you want it. I continue to strive for success.
We all make mistakes Barney; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Turning up 1 hour late to a shoot. Bear in mind it was only my second one.
Barney, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I keep myself very organised, so the situation doesn't happen.
Please tell us, Barney, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
When I decided it was time to start taking care of myself. Beauty, fitness and dietary. Never looked back since.
Barney, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I think its when I know that "better" can be done and I break it down point by point and really show them how I know it can work I guess.
Barney, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
It was when I was doing a photoshoot for my friend and the whole vibe there was amazing, the photos turned out incredible, and I got featured in a magazine. He was starting up a clothing brand and asked me if I wanted to model for them and said "yeah why not!" turned out to be one of the best shoots I've done I think to this day.
Barney, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I would say when you mix and match clothes that don't work with each other. It seems odd at first, but I think its when you really look past the colour, you see determination and edginess that works really well and is individual on it's on, which brings new styles that no one would have thought could happen. The difficult bit about it was getting every colour existent to make it happen and work.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Rule 1, watch out for people that try to con you and ask you for money, stay away from that nonsense and focus on driving yourself to be opened minded with a positive outlook. There's a dream out there for everyone if you want to make it, you will. It just depends how bad you want it. Don't sit around and wait for it to happen.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I am looking for any collaboration; I love being open-minded to any brand with a diversity look and to see where things lie from there.
