I think one of the unique things about me is the ability to merge my law background with my love of fashion. Many believe that because these are two different careers, you cannot do them both. However, I disagree! Being able to bring fashion to my workplace confirms my beliefs that so many women truly have a love for fashion but do not understand that you can be fashionable without wearing MUI MUI to work every day.
Arlisa-Renee', what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Fashion Stylist?
My passion is confidence and happiness. Self-love if you will! I believe that you must first find the things in life that truly make you happy. For me, that is fashion and design! I wanted to be able to turn a passion and a hobby into a full-time career, and I think I am off to a pretty good start! The drive to no longer keeps what I truly believed to be the one thing that fuels me suppressed pushed me to create Heels Never Lie. Every day, I continue to explore that passion and grow as a blogger and a content creator, and I learn more and more about myself every day.
Who is your inspiration in life Arlisa-Renee'? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration is my Mother who passed when I was just a baby. It is because of her that I continue to be great and dynamite! I want nothing more in life than to make her proud and happy and knowing my success would bring her happiness is all the inspiration I need.
We all make mistakes Arlisa-Renee'; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Fashion Stylist; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Mmmmm! That's a tricky one! I think the one thing that I can say I wish I had a do-over would be trusting certain people with my career. Some so many individuals say they have your best interest at heart when truly they don't! As a new fashion blogger, there are times when you don't know everything, and you trust individuals to help guide you when the best way to grow is to educate yourself about the industry you have chosen.
Arlisa-Renee', when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Fashion Stylist, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
Well, I will be honest I do not have the clientele that would require me to be overwhelmed. I work with companies at a volume that I can handle. When I do have multiple projects, I prioritise based on deadlines. Timeframes and deadlines are the most important to me, and it has been a method that has worked for me very well.
Please tell us Arlisa-Renee', about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Fashion Stylist?
Being a full-time paralegal AND a full-time blogger, I always have to be strategic about my priorities. I usually have a schedule that I faithfully use. I make sure to also "bulk work." For example, I may write several posts in one day versus a post per day. It helps to keep down the number of events and projects that must be completed within a day.
Arlisa-Renee', please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
This is something that I currently do every day. As a paralegal, it is my job to help the attorney's that I work with persuade a group of 12 individuals every day. I always ensure that I present the best argument that I can without over talking or overtaking the conversation with my peers. I maintain a sense of understanding as well as flexibility to ensure that all viewpoints are heard.
Arlisa-Renee', please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Fashion Stylist. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I believe that my proudest moment as a fashion blogger was my feature in Fashion Bomb Daily Magazine! At the time I had less than 1,000 followers, and I was new to the blogging world, yet a fashion platform as large as Fashion Bomb Daily recognised my talent and gave me a shot to show the world what I was capable of, and I could not be more proud of myself.
Arlisa-Renee', please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Being a fashion blogger, I can be as creative as I like every day. Blogging is all about creativity, and I enjoy every minute.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Fashion Stylist?
Remain consistent!! Never give up and produce great content. Your readers want to be able to relate to you as well so always remain humble as much as you can. Consistency and patience are two main factors in the blogging industry because success will not happen overnight! Your career and blog will take a lot of TLC, and as long as you are prepared for the failure, the success will be exciting.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I am looking to collaborate with brands and businesses that are willing to work with up and coming content creators. Brands that will appeal to my audience of everyday fashionista(s).
