I'm a self-taught photographer and filmmaker. I've been taking pictures and making movies since 2012. I really began to professionalize myself around 2015, and since then I did professional shoots for companies, associations, and people (La Dérive, Bastao Batucada, Destination Avenir, Yongnuo...).
My purpose when taking pictures has always been to render things as beautiful as I see them. For instance when a model is uncomfortable because she/he is insecure about his beauty, I want to make sure that this person will feel better noce she/he sees the final pictures with the editing done. Therefore I think I'm taking the beauty of life in general in picture.
My style is not a limited color palette like "Orange And Teal" even though I like to use it from time to time. What is really noticeable in my style of photography are usually the true Blacks that I increase, the Contrast and the Popping Colors that I use because I think they make for a natural look but also a more vivid and pleasant look.
But of course, I adapt those style preferences with the mood of the shooting I have to do.
Even though I haven't gone to a Visual School, I can tell you that from my experiences (Youtube and work as a photographer), I have trained my eyes to see every details in a picture and that I do my best to make those details look perfect.
I usually like to use Natural light or colored light to take my pictures, and I rather not be in a studio to do my work.
Finally, I'm really good at working with other creative people, it is always nice to compare our creativity and experiences and usually we can make great results out of it.
I'm based in France, Paris.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Antonin. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I think that what makes me unique is the fact that I haven't been in a "Regular Photography School". Of course in a lot of ways it can be a handicap but in my case and for now, it allowed me to be more creative and to not limit myself to some rules I would have learned in School.
Also my background as a Youtuber makes me see photography as a video maker and that's always interesting for the framing and such things.
Antonin, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
My passion is obviously audiovisual. I started by doing videos online on Youtube in 2012 with an old camcorder for a joke. Then it quickly became a hobby and I bought my first DSLR for Christmas.
From here, I just shot videos and took pictures more and more and got better at it with the time.
My aspiration in life is of course to live of my passion, and maybe to have my own company related to my passion. That would be a nice touch.
Who is your inspiration in life Antonin? How do you keep inspired?
Well I have some people that inspire me on Instagram like Sam Kolder, Kai Böttcher, Peter McKinnon, Brandon Woelfel, Victor Cambet, Marie BHRN, Nilo Visuals...
What keep me inspired and motivated is to know that I can improve myself all the time, and the wish to reach my goal that is to live from my passion.
We all make mistakes Antonin, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Photographer , you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I would say that sometimes I want to rush things during a shoot for whatever reasons and I shouldn't. Because usually I take my best pictures (with a model) after 30min of talking and making the person comfortable enough.
So I would suggest to my future self to take my time on a shoot.
Antonin ,when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
I first prioritize the due dates and I try to stay focus on one project at a time because if I start to do several at the same time, my mind can go all over the place and that's not productive.
Please tell us Antonin, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
It was last summer. I had an internship as an interviews Director/Video Editor and I also was freelancing my services at the same time. I had to be very strict with my schedule in order not to miss an interview and also meet my clients/deliver them the photos on time.
So there is no secret, I just used my Calendar App on my phone to schedule everything and I stuck to it.
Antonin, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Usually when people want to work with me it's because they like my way of seing things so I don't have to persuade them of anything. But if it happens, we talk about it for a minute and we try to find a middle ground where everybody is happy.
Antonin please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share to everyone. What is it and why?
Besides some pictures that I'm really proud of, recently I partnered with a Lens Company to test a lens. It's not the biggest company but knowing that they trusted me thanks to my work is something really rewarding to my eyes.
Antonin, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
The thing is that I really enjoy taking picture wherever I am (not in a studio). And that is always a challenge to find the right angle, the most interesting lighting (etc.) when you don't control the environment. Sometime, I just take a friend and make her/him as an improvised model and that is also challenging.
What advice would you give to the people who wants to be successful as a Photographer?
I couldn't really give any advice because I'm not famous or really successful even though people refer to me as "the photographer" and that is rewarding. But if I could say one thing, it would be :
Don't try be famous or successful for that matter, just do what you like, enjoy it and put a lot of work into it. Try to professionalize yourself and you will see that with time, if you're good at what you do, success will come along.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Honestly, I would be in for any type of collaboration. I think we as photographers can learn from any experience.
I am really open to test new things with new people.
Now for the best part Antonin! Please upload 5-10 photos so we can get to see your work.
