Anthea Maria Ellul
I am an up and coming aspiring beauty blogger, particularly within the cosmetics industry. I am also a self-taught MUA and have loved artistry from a very young age. I am willing to progress my passion through showcasing various looks, specifically catered to any individual. I have finally taken the plunge and come up with a beauty blog and have also started working on a page on both Facebook and Instagram.
Living in Malta has a minimal disadvantage for the time being as we cannot fully be expressive due to limitations in makeup brands and expenses, yet I am very eager and willing to help myself and progress my career and bring about new opportunities, both for myself and possibly others in the future who share similar dreams. I was very excited when I saw your comment on my photo and even more so that you reached out to me personally!
I would be truly honoured to form part of as team of ambassadors showcasing such a brand; this would definitely be a huge stepping stone for my beauty career! It would really mean the world to me if this could ever happen :D
Our readers would love to get to know you more Anthea Maria. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
Apart from having make-up artistry as a hobby, I am also a graduated physiotherapist - well-being has always been a very important value of mine!
Anthea Maria, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Make-up Artist?
I have been in love with art and creativity since I can remember. I loved my mum's make-up case.. was astounded by the different products and beautifully my mum would transform for a night out.. I longed for the tools to bring my own personal creativity to life, and set out on my own to start this.
Who is your inspiration in life Anthea Maria? How do you keep inspired?
I have been watching YouTube videos since the very beginning. I was always to embarrassed to start up an account myself as where I'm from, this is still a taboo and we are constantly reminded that it won't get you anywhere.. It's as if we're brainwashed into thinking that no one could ever progress a career online. I finally decided to ignore this and pursue my career no matter what. This keeps me going. I want to prove to myself that I am able to do this
We all make mistakes Anthea Maria, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Make-up Artist , you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I have always worked alone when it comes to make-up for the time being.
Anthea Maria ,when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Make-up Artist, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
This situation has never arisen yet. I am very into prioritizing each and every individual to their own and seeing them personally and alone. I personally love a one-to-one basis.
Please tell us Anthea Maria, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Make-up Artist?
Dedicating time and savings towards cosmetics in a place where all this is too expensive and limited is actually a struggle. Yet the love for it all keeps me going
Anthea Maria, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Through visual and verbal cues, it's very simple to do.. only if you're being honest. You're looking for happiness from the client. They cannot leave your studio not feeling themselves or being uncomfortable. Dedication towards one's clients has to be a very top priority.
Anthea Maria please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Make-up Artist. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share to everyone. What is it and why?
I have only just started out, and haven't publicized many of my works yet.. however when I upload content on my blog and see that people from around the world are viewing it and personally responding to me, that really makes me proud of myself and gives me a lovely sense of accomplishment. When brands reach out to me, that just takes me up to Cloud 9!
Anthea Maria, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Most clients just ask for a smokey-eye or a full-beat classic kind of glam for a night out or a wedding. I have never had the opportunity to come up with costume looks, yet I'm honestly very excited to do so!
What advice would you give to the people who wants to be successful as a Make-up Artist?
Ignore the negativity and the hate around you. It is very possible that you might have some, even unknowingly. If you believe in your craft, and the ability that your craft can go far and help others, then just go for it. No one around you will congratulate you for not doing what you love. However, be true to yourself and don't change for anyone but yourself!
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Definitely! That would be my ultimate dream! There are so many fantastic brands out there, like Too Faced, Tarte Cosmetics, Benefit cosmetics, MAC, Violet Voss, Morphe! I would so love to collaborate on make-up products with such brands some day! A special dream of mine would be to collaborate on a product with a meaningful awareness behind it, to give back to the community and help increase the beauty of makeup!
Now for the best part Anthea Maria! Please upload 5-10 photos so we can get to see your work.
Taken personally by yours truly :)
