I stand out in everything I do, my look the way I walk into a room. I Show so much confidence in myself because regardless if I wasn't chosen to be in something I know that I'm still just as good as whoever got chosen. I'm very open to try and learn new things so getting out of my comfort zone wouldn't be a problem. Although I'm a very fun person to be around, I can be serious when it's needed.
Amanda, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
My Passion and aspiration in life is my son; he pushes me to do everything that I'm doing now. Also, I want him to grown up knowing that if he sees something he wants to go after it, set goals for yourself follow your dreams and be successful. Getting into modelling was hard, I mean you Need and want to have a foundation and what I mean about a foundation is you want to have people that support your movement. Not everyone will like you, not everyone will support you but as long at you believe in yourself and know what you want you will be just fine, also having someone or people that stand behind you is even better. So for me, I have a mother who used to model when she was younger so, she passed down that passion for me. She tells me I'm beautiful every day all day she tells me how I would make a great model one day, she tells me she can't wait to see my picture on bulletin boards. However she does go on and on about how I need to pose and how I need to relax my face, critique me and I do get aggravated when she does but you have to learn how to take critique and turn it into something good so that next time when you show her another picture of you, she has nothing to say.
Who is your inspiration in life Amanda? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration is my son. Definitely, and the reason why is because in my house I have a long hallway so I would practice my runway walk there, he would always be by my side walking down the imaginary runway with me. His smile just warms my heart that's just all I want to see from him so In order to keep him smiling I have to go after what I want, work hard so that I can be able to not only shower him in kisses and love but be able to give him whatever he wants and more.
We all make mistakes Amanda; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
This is a tricky question being that I haven't been in a situation with a colleague involving modelling. I'm not sure if this counts but I was in a fashion show in NYC and usually the director/producer would put all the models in a group chat where they can speak with all the models at once send in photos whatever. So after the show was finished everyone had gotten a message on Facebook from the director stating that if we see a young lady named Blah Blah Blah we shouldn't listen to anything she has to say she's a fraud etc. mind you the young lady was in the group chat with us so, they were just arguing back and forth in the group chat just being so unprofessional. Instead of me just leaving the chat avoiding it all like some models did I stayed in the group chat for a little trying to find out what happened, you know asking questions and just getting involved. However now that I look back I feel that I should have just left the chat and avoided the whole situation because you don't know who watched it, who screenshot it and posted it now all they see is my name and the other two arguing back and forth.
Amanda, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I never had this issue, but if I were I would make sure I get to all of my clients and show the best effort as I can, I know I might get tired, but bosses don't get tired we work, and we work hard to receive and bring nothing but the best.
Please tell us, Amanda, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I remember working on the set for Grammy-nominated Etcetera and Tory lanes music video there were so many models and so many different roles that were needed to be filled. We had some new models who have never been on a set nor had a photo shoot; then we had the models that know what does. At the beginning of the video, there's an action scene now no one on the set such as models knew how to act or were nervous to act. Now me being Amanda and the type of person I am, I wanted to get the job done just as much as everyone else, the models who didn't know much about modeling I gave them the script for the acting scene at the beginning of the video to see how they felt about that instead of them being in front of the camera for most of the video not knowing what to do, so that even though they won't be in the shoot they will still be in the video in a different way to their comfort.
Amanda, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Usually, if I want to persuade someone to see things my way at work, I would need to have my speech and plead ready just in case if they have questions or want you to explain it a little better you have the answers. When I was employed at Walmart I worked in the toy department, now working in the toys department was very hard because I wouldn't have to deal with the parents as much the kids. Every department but mine had more than one person working in it, but mine is the one who gets the most attention because you have the kids that knock over all toys then you have the kids that take the bikes off the racks and ride them around the store it's a lot. My manager felt that my department didn't need more than one worker, I got my plead together, and I asked to speak with him and plead my case. Proving and providing evidence as to why I need Someone else working with me or why there should be at least two people working in the Tory department. Show the person that you're persuading that you're very serious, keep bugging them so that they know there's nothing else on your mind but that and when they finally give you an inch take a whole yard.
Amanda, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I think the proudest moment for me right now is working with Grammy award winning Etcetera and The Famous Tory Lanez. Being in their Up Coming music video and being able to see me so close to two amazing people is the greatest feeling right now. I brag about that all the time, it's hard to get even a like on Instagram by a famous person let alone be Face to face with one and working on a project with them.
Amanda, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Well, I Step so being able to show people my moves and bringing out that side of me is such a great Feeling. I've had a group of people that just started a step team and wanted me to be the team leader, that was also a great feeling because I have people that are my age, younger and older wanting to get the opportunities that I've got, and looking up to me it's just such a beautiful feeling.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
I would say follow your dreams, you're beautiful and don't let no one tell you different. Don't think that you can't make it because of your too big or too skinny, tall, short, long hair, short hair, freckles, no freckles. Hearing negativity like that should only want to push you even more.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
