Our readers would love to get to know you more Alison. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I shoot multiple ways. I do not stick to one tone or one mood. I also do my own wardrobe, make-up, and photographs. I believe what makes me unique, is the same thing that makes everyone unique. Their eye. My vision for a photograph is unique and so is my editing style.
Alison, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
I have always taken photos. Growing up my sisters & I would have fashion shows, and I would take photographs of them. I finally had the opportunity to buy myself a DSLR camera and start my own business doing what I am most passionate about. Now I am an adult and I still play dress up with my sisters and photograph them. My goal is to become a full-time fashion, & portrait photographer!
Who is your inspiration in life Alison? How do you keep inspired?
People are my inspiration. I don't have a single photographer that I love, I have hundreds! I love getting to know my clients, see their personality, and allow that to come through with my photographs.
We all make mistakes Alison, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Photographer, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Yes. Everyone just starting out makes mistakes. I had a client that last minute called for a family session. They were saying goodbye to their longtime furry baby and wanted photographs with her. I went out with 2-hour notice. The photos looked amazing, and they really captured the emotion of the sad day. After I edited all of the photographs, I contacted the client. I believe they thought I was doing the shoot for free. It was an uncomfortable & awkward situation sending them a bill.
Alison, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
I am very organized. I keep a Calendar and I do not overbook myself. I am not worried about making the money and booking to many clients. I am worried about my relationship with each client and giving them amazing photos.
Please tell us, Alison, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
Shooting my first wedding. I had to be very organized and know where I needed to be and make sure that I photographed everyone correctly. When it is someone's big day, you want to make sure you are helping to make everything as perfect as possible.
Alison, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I believe my photographs speak for themselves. I have never had a client disagree with how I want to shoot something. Maybe someday I will. But if you take the time to go over their wishes and let them know your vision beforehand, you should be ok.
Alison please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
The day I received my first DSLR Camera. That was it for me. I realized opening up that box, that I was going to be turning a lifelong passion & dream of mine into a reality.
Alison, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Shooting with my gorgeous sister. She just gets the whole modeling thing. With her, I have full creative control. She will do anything and always is supportive.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Just do it! I wish I would have started earlier. If you have a dream, then go out an reach it! If you try hard enough and have enough passion you will succeed. Don't let anyone get you down or tell you that you aren't worthy.
