ALEX DE LUCA
ALEX DE LUCA
State / Region
I am an actor, model, director and producer who mainly works in film and TV, which I enjoy very much. I just love being in front of the camera, but in recent years I have become more and more involved with the production side of film making, to which I have been 1st Assistant Director for the feature films 'Wuthering Heights' and 'Whiteblade', and have been hired for many more upcoming features that I am not allowed to talk about at the moment. They are 'top secret', if I were to tell you about them, I would have to shoot you. (hahaha)
I am always looking to improve on my education in the dramatic arts, and have been on various courses throughout the years, but more recently I have studied 'Drama and the Performing Arts' at Doncaster University, the 'Jacques Lecoq' method of acting at the 'Paris Ecole Internationale Theatre', and the very best workshops I have attended were at the 'Actors Space' just outside Barcelona, where I got to meet actors from all over the world during their residential 'The Creative Actor' and 'Screen Acting' courses. Which I can highly recommend!
I am very fortunate to be able to do all of the things I do, but it means many hours of hard work with very little thanks. I think you have to be very hard skinned to be in the entertainment industry, where you can be yesterdays news in the blink of an eye. The hard part isn't getting there, the hard part is staying there when you start achieving your goals. You have to keep your foot on the peddle, and never take things for granted.
At the moment I am delighted to say that my future film projects include 'King Lear', 'Memoria Draco', 'Storm Warrior- The Dawn', 'Dream Finder' and 'Pestilence Lane' to which I will be acting, directing and producing. Just check out my IMDB page for full details of these awesome projects http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2111813/
I am also in high demand as a model, which is very much a by-product of my acting. People have been saying for a long time that I should start doing modelling assignments, because I have a good look, and my ability to act gives the photographer a lot more scope to play with. The only downside for me is I'm not tall enough to do the catwalk assignments, and there is a lot of money in doing this. However, I feel blessed to be able to do the things I am doing now, and long may that continue. I believe that "thoughts become things", and by keeping a good positive outlook on all of the things I am doing, will hold me in good stead for the future.
Our readers would love to get to know you more ALEX. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I have many strings to my bow, I have been in the forces, a firefighter, a psychotherapist, and I have a degree in Psychology. All of which I no longer use, other than to get inside the minds of the characters I play in films, or maybe smooth talk someone into giving me an assignment. (hahaha) I have also just recently acquired a cinema camera, so I can learn how to make my own films.
ALEX, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
My passions are all creative ones. I want to make great films, which will evoke great emotions in those that watch them. I want to become a great actor, who can make you believe what you're seeing on the screen. I want to be a model who gives the photographer all they need and more. I want to be remembered for being a great 'creative' who brought joy to those I work with, and those who I aim to entertain. The odd award here and there would be nice too, a few 'Oscars' would be nice. (hahaha)
Who is your inspiration in life ALEX? How do you keep inspired?
My inspirations in life are my grandparents, and my sister who are no longer with us. I just want them to be proud of me and my achievements. I think this is what pushes me on, and gives me the desire to work hard.
We all make mistakes ALEX, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Model , you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
This is a tough question, because I'm a very positive, and happy person, so I tend to get on really well with everyone. I guess the biggest mistakes that I've made in the past is being too trusting, but I don't think I will change this approach. I believe that everyone is good, until they prove otherwise!
ALEX ,when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
I give everyone the same service! I deal in excellence, and to give a client anything less is not on my agenda. My clients pay for my time, and I give them all the best service I can on any given day.
Please tell us ALEX, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
Juggling my time can be very difficult sometimes, especially as I'm acting, modelling, directing and producing, but I always find a way to make it work. The way I look at it is very simple, if I don't think I can fit the assignment into my diary, I don't take the job, regardless of the money they are putting on the table!
ALEX, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I tend to be very collaborative in everything I do. A meeting of two minds or more, all working to achieve the same thing, is much better than working towards the goals of one person and their ego. Although I have successfully worked for people like this, because they have paid me well.
ALEX please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share to everyone. What is it and why?
This was my first job as a model, which was a campaign for the homeless in the UK. Not the most glamorous shoot in the world, and it was shot in black and white, but we raised over £1,000,000.
ALEX, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
These days I get to be creative all of the time, because I work in the film and TV industry, but if I was to give you a particular example of a difficult situation working as a model, it would have to be during a time when I wanted to do a Viking shoot. I love anything to do with Vikings, including the truly awesome TV series, so I wanted to dress up as a Viking, and get some images that I can add to my portfolio, and send to the producers of the TV show, which was very exciting. Anyway, once I had the whole outfit on, which included chain-mail, I could hardly move. It weighed a ton! It was that heavy I was walking around like a robot, because I could barely lift my arms. If you were there you would have laughed, it was hilarious.
What advice would you give to the people who wants to be successful as a Model?
It's the same advice that I would give anyone, regardless of their career path. Work hard, and when you finally reach your goal, whatever it may be, work even harder to stay there.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Definitely! I am looking for collaborations with fashion talents, brands and creatives, whether I am in front of the camera, or behind it, I don't mind. Modelling assignments, acting, directing and producing films. I want to do it all, and I want to be able to collaborate with the very best people I can. I don't mind if you have never acted, or modelled before, if you have the right look, and the right mind set, I want to work with you. I also want to collaborate with fellow film makers. I want to work on new ideas, and make films that will change the way people think.
Now for the best part ALEX! Please upload 5-10 photos so we can get to see your work.
