I've been travelling /changing places since I remember myself. I've been a very curious child, very much into different arts and sciences, but one thing was always constant - my passion for painting and design. Each place I lived in shaped more and more this constant desire to create something that is aesthetically appealing, functional but has a message to deliver... Germany "taught" me love for details, Russia - love for colors and surrealism, Italy - passion for design and dedication, New York "balanced" all that in a minimalistic look and stimulated me to go beyond limits I had set for myself... I am a self-taught artist at the end and in today's world I, find it extremely motivating to "grow" and achieve something on my own.
Alesia, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Designer?
I've been painting since I remember myself... But it used to be just a hobby until I moved to New York and decided to do something more serious with it. So I started doing some big oil on canvas paintings, mostly peaceful landscapes and one day at some art supply store in TriBeCa my attention got caught by very tiny canvases. That was it! I grabbed probably 10 of them and started thinking what I could paint/how I could use them to make, for example, a necklace. It's funny how things come to life apparently accidentally. I was pregnant at that time, and that's why probably even more creative:)
Who is your inspiration in life Alesia? How do you keep inspired?
I love Salvador Dali and his genius saying: "Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it."
.We all make mistakes Alesia; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Designer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I wish I had started this long journey time ago...
Alesia, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Designer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I would rather ask for more time but deliver a better result. For now my, business is small, and I can afford it. I think, direct communication (if possible) with a client gives best results and helps to understand better her/his needs.
Please tell us Alesia, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Designer?
I go for making a list of things to do, except the top ones - those I don't even wait to put them on the list, I do them. Also, I find it therapeutic to reorganise things even in your closet - that puts all thoughts/priorities in your head in the right order.
Alesia, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I have a friend who is in a very senior position in marketing business but strangely was a bit sceptic about me using social media platforms to achieve some success. Well... one of the most exciting opportunities for the jewellery brand I got through Instagram. A, by the way, I was contacted by you through IG as well :)
Alesia, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Designer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
One of them was recent. After participating at "Amber Trip" jewellery competition, some works were chosen to be exhibited in other galleries through this 2017 year, and the final destination was supposed to be MOCA in London (one of the curators was an injury). I can not describe my joy when I received their email with confirmation that my work was among the chosen ones. It did not yet happen, but our works were and will be exposed in other galleries in Europe.
Alesia, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
The most exciting thing for me in the creative process is exploring. I started to work with mixed media painting technics recently and discovered a pattern, which might become something signature.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Designer?
Don't be afraid of being judged. Black or white opinion, especially in art, is a way better than smth "grey". It's also important to keep an eye on what's going on around - today marketing skills are of special value if you want to succeed.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Stylist/designers/bloggers who would like to feature my pieces and seek an exposure overseas. I'm sure we all can benefit!
