Alright, now for the interview! Firstly Alejandro, how would you best describe yourself?
Photographer

Alejandro. Tell us ABOUT yourself.
This section will be used for the listing on our website. Please see sample below. You can skip this.
When life is in the hands of fortune, coincidences and destiny make alliances to put in front of you the opportunities that point the way. It is not a case of an exception; he was found by photography with great eagerness as he received his first camera as a gift when he was only six years old. The experience was short then but unforgettable. With the help of luck, he set up the first darkroom seven years later where his desires were driven by the practice and theory of self-learning. The light of some masters has been moulding through the years his work with the light. Experiences and technology again from the hand of chance transformed the darkroom into a small photo studio.
Architecture, once the centre of his passion within the field of photography, became the perfect setting to shelter the work of portraiture and glamour he now performs. Contact with people through the lens causes an addictive passion for these photographic genres.
Alejandro Funes is a photographer and architect, and his professional performance oscillates between both trades.

Our readers would love to get to know you more Alejandro. Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far.
Sometimes I think that I can isolate the time of an image and realize that I catch its light, its colour, its textures, its expression and then I think that at least it would be fun ...

Photography does not show us but the insurmountable desire to hold onto what time passes in front of us, offering it as if we could reach it.

What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field Alejandro?
At every opportunity, my main challenge is to improve my skills to achieve photos with a better narrative through the language of light

How do you communicate with people Alejandro? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I believe that good communication with the subject to be portrayed is the most valuable element although it is apparently something that can not be seen in the photo.

If you had to do it over again, what would you change Alejandro?
In my opinion analysing things from a distance gives you a better point of view and will allow you to change your perspective without the interference of obstination. If you have to do it over and over again, you have to put things in a different perspective every time.

Who is your hero Alejandro, and how have they helped you get to where you are?
I don't believe in heroes but in the necessity of recognizing and analyzing the work of great minds. I admire the work of Helmut Newton, Paolo Roversi among many others.

How important are creative education courses Alejandro? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful?
Reflection is vital in creativity, understanding creativity as an intellectual activity of the human kind. An academy is an indispensable tool for the development of the intellect. I like to get involved with academia at any of its levels. To teach classes in the university, but also to attend courses and workshops constantly. Both activities are extremely rich in learning.

Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry?
Keep your eyes and ears alert and be humble when learning.
