I am currently a college student pursuing Business Administration degree. I like fashion and experimenting with different styles.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Alan. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I was born and raised in Taiwan, and I came to the United States for college. I’m currently a college student. I love fashion and experimenting with different styles. I started to develop my style after I came to the U.S, and I learned that it is possible to be stylish on a college budget. I built my wardrobe by starting with essential pieces, and once I got all the basics, I began to add some statement pieces that reflect my taste. Besides fashion, I love playing basketball and working out.
Alan, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I love fashion and experimenting with different styles. I also like playing basketball and working out. I’m just a recreational model who sometimes do photoshoots with friends who are photographers.
Who is your inspiration in life Alan? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in life is a Men’s Fashion YouTuber called Jose Zuniga. I learned a lot about Mens Fashion from his YouTube channel, and he often gives me new ideas and knowledge about being stylish.
We all make mistakes Alan; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Although I do model for recreation, I still remember the first time I had a photoshoot with a friend who was experienced in photography. We were taking photos on the street where many people were around, and I kept getting distracted by other people, so my facial expressions were not as relaxed as I wanted them to be. Looking back, I should have ignored other people and focus on myself.
Alan, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
First of all, I would make sure that my clients want. I would then ask myself if I can fulfil their needs. I would be honest with them if I am not good at or capable of doing what they want. I would also let them know what I think I can accomplish so that hopefully we can reach a middle ground.
Please tell us, Alan, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
There was once when I was taking a close-up photo of my face, and I was told to smile, my photographer wasn’t satisfied with what the photos look like because the smile didn’t look good. When we retook it, I stuck my tongue behind my upper teeth and tried to think of something really funny so that I could display a genuine, aesthetically pleasing smile as possible.
Alan, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
When I was a basketball coach for a kids basketball camp, I tried to persuade the kids to do warmups before every class session by explaining the reason and letting them know the potential consequences of not doing them.
Alan, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
As I said, I’m just a recreational model. However, if I have to share one proudest moment of being a recreational model was the time when a photo of mine got featured on a Men's Fashion Page on Instagram that has thousands of followers.
Alan, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
My Instagram account focuses on menswear and street style contents. Therefore, I often took photos on the street. It required me to look for good locations and backgrounds to take photos, and I had to think of new ways to pose so that my pictures wouldn’t look the same all the time.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?*
I think it is important to have a passion for it because it requires patience and experience when doing photo shoots. I also think that confidence plays a huge part as a model because when you are confident in yourself and what you are doing, the photos speak themselves.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I’m looking for collaboration with clothing brands in menswear or street style.
